(10/025) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara… The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on October 1, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00. It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on October 1, 2018, 3 people (Acun Karadağ, Nazan Bozkurt and Gülnaz Bozkurt) and at 18.00 2 people (Gülnaz Bozkurt and Mehmet Dersulu) were detained.

George Soros’s Open Society Foundations group has said it will cease operations in Turkey, days after the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, accused the billionaire philanthropist of trying to divide and destroy nations.The organisation said it had been the target of baseless claims in the Turkish media that made it impossible for it to continue its work.It also faced an investigation by the interior ministry that sought to demonstrate a link, which it denied, between the foundation and protests at Gezi Park in Istanbul in 2013.

MESOPOTAMIA NEWS “STATE OF THE UNION” : Yet another sad day for an ailing Turkish democracy – By SERKAN DEMİRTAŞ – HÜRRIYET /EU BRUSSELS & TURKEY

NORTH KURDISTAN (TURKEY) – 18 Nov 2018 :  Hürriyet Daily News reported on Nov. 15 that Turkey and the European Union will hold two high-level meetings in the next two weeks as part of a joint effort in re-opening institutional dialogue channels.

In this framework, Turkey-EU High-Level Political Dialogue meetings will be held in Ankara on Nov. 22 and the Turkey-EU Association Committee on Nov. 28. They will be followed by other dialogue meetings on energy, transportation and economy in the upcoming months.

EU High Representative and Vice President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini and European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn will be in Turkey for the first meeting.

Congress to make determination on F-35s for Turkey

Jack Detsch November 23, 2018 – AL MONITOR – Article Summary   – Defense officials have handed lawmakers a congressionally mandated report assessing the impact of Turkey’s removal from the F-35 program. – Congress now has its chance to evaluate Turkey’s participation in building the F-35 stealth jet after Defense Secretary Jim Mattis delivered a report to Capitol Hill on the NATO ally’s $12 billion contribution to the program.

Lawmakers are weighing whether to kick Turkish firms out of the F-35 program amid fraught relations with the NATO ally. Turkey has shown interest in purchasing up to 100 of the latest-generation aircraft and has already taken possession of two of them, but Congress froze further deliveries pending the report on the US-Turkey relationship, including Turkey’s participation in the fighter jet’s supply chain.
