Neue Umfragen zeigen, dass die Iraker institutionelle Veränderungen wollen, aber sie verlieren das Vertrauen in Wahlen als echtes Mittel für Reformen.
Es besteht kein Zweifel mehr unter den Menschen, die die Situation im Irak verfolgen, dass eine große Mehrheit der Iraker das Regierungssystem ändern will, das im Irak nach 2003 eingeführt wurde. Laut der jüngsten Meinungsumfrage, die 2021 durchgeführt wurde, wollen mehr als 90 % der Iraker das ethnisch-sektiererische System im Irak zum Einsturz bringen. Einer der wichtigsten Gründe dafür ist die Überzeugung einer absoluten Mehrheit (85%) dass dieses System einer Sekte oder ethnischen Gruppe dient und nicht dazu bestimmt ist, der Mehrheit der Iraker zu dienen. Das Paradoxe ist, dass jede ethnische Gruppe oder Sekte glaubt, dass dieses Regime ihm nicht dient. Selbst die Schiiten und Kurden, von denen die meisten den Sturz des vorherigen Regimes begrüßten und die oft eine hohe Unterstützung für das gegenwärtige Regime zeigten, sind laut Meinungsumfragen der letzten fünf Jahre unzufrieden mit der Leistung des gegenwärtigen Systems. Während 64 % der Sunniten erst vor zwei Wochen sagten, dass sie glauben, dass der Irak in die falsche Richtung geht, war der Anteil bei den Schiiten höher (67%) und Kurden (68%).

New polls show that Iraqis want institutional change, but they are losing faith in elections as a real means towards reform.
There is no longer any doubt among those following the Iraqi situation that a large majority of Iraqis want to change the system of government that was established in Iraq after 2003. According to the latest public opinion poll, conducted in 2021, more than 90% of Iraqis want to bring down the ethnic-sectarian system in Iraq. Among the most important reasons for that is the belief of an absolute majority (85%) that this system serves one sect or ethnic group, and is not designed to serve the majority of Iraqis. The paradox is that every ethnic group or sect believes that this regime does not serve it. Even the Shia and the Kurds, most of whom welcomed the overthrow of the previous regime and who often showed high levels of support for the current regime, have become unsatisfied with the current system’s performance, according to opinion polls for the past five years. While 64% of Sunnis said just two weeks ago that they believe Iraq is headed in the wrong direction, the percentage was higher among the Shia (67%) and Kurds (68%).

Die postkoloniale und identitätspolitische Theoriebildung, die vornehmlich in den Vereinigten Staaten in den 1980er und 1990er Jahren begann, ist ohne den Bezug auf die Dekonstruktion Jacques Derridas, die Diskursanalyse Michel Foucaults und die Politikanalysen Antonio Gramscis nicht denkbar. Theoriegeschichtlich firmiert dies in Bezug auf die beiden Franzosen unter „French Theory“, der Bezug auf Gramsci lässt so etwas wie „Sardinian Theory“ vermuten. Die von einem nicht unerheblichen Teil der amerikanischen akademischen Linken vertretenen identitätspolitischen Überzeugungen, die darauf hinauslaufen, die Universität in einen „safe space“ und den wissenschaftlichen Diskurs in eine Bekenntnishölle zu verwandeln, sind der akademische Exportschlager schlechthin. Dabei ist nicht zu vergessen, dass es sich bei der gegenwärtigen Rezeption von Foucault um einen „Reimport“ handelt. Foucault wurde zunächst in die Vereinigten Staaten „exportiert“, um dann in veränderter Form wieder in Europa aufzutauchen.

Prince Hamzah is among at least 16 members of the Jordanian royal family and other senior officials, who were apparently arrested last week, with the government claiming soon afterwards that a coup to depose the country’s monarch had been averted.
