MESOP NEWS DISCOVERY : THE GIANT WASHINGTON POST DIRTY FAKE STORY

If Trump leaked Israel secrets, why doesn’t Israel seem to care?

BySeth J. Frantzman  – May 18, 2017 06:54  – JERUSALEM POST  – When media rely on anonymous sources with unclear or exaggerated access, we are left with more questions than answers.

“The life of a spy placed by Israel inside ISIS is at risk tonight,” ABC News reported on Tuesday.

The latest allegations is that US President Donald Trump leaked, or passed, information to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting last Wednesday. But if a spy working for Israel and privy to the latest ISIS plots is now at risk, where is the anger from Jerusalem? Instead there is a wall of silence in Israel that could convey real concern, but could also indicate that this US scandal is not rocking the intelligence services the way it is being portrayed.
The initial report came in The Washington Post on May 15, with explosive claims that “according to current and former US officials,” Trump had disclosed intelligence that “jeopardized a critical source.” The New York Times quoted “current and former American government official[s]” as well, perhaps the same ones. “Trump discussed contents of the intelligence, not the sources and methods.”

Then Israel entered the picture this Tuesday. “According to current and a former American official…, the classified intelligence that President Trump disclosed in a meeting last week with Russian officials at the White House was provided by Israel,” wrote the Times. A caveat: “Israeli officials would not confirm they were the source.” There the story ends, there is no new information and the hundreds of reports on this story all go back to the same current and former officials.

WEST KURDISTAN (SYRIA)

MESOP NEWS SYRIA DAILY: Opposition Seeks Extension of Geneva Talks

By – Scott Lucas – May 18, 2017 – eaworldview – Syria’s opposition says it wants an extension of the current round of political talks in Geneva, saying more time is needed for indirect negotiations with the Assad regime. The sixth round opened on Tuesday and is scheduled to end Friday. But opposition spokesman Salem Meslet said it was “not right” that only four days were allocated, as time in needed to prepare a response to a working paper presented by UN envoy Staffan de Mistura (pictured).

Meslet said the proposal involved “the constitutional frame” for a political transition. The prospect of a transition is tenuous, however, as Bashar al-Assad has ruled out his departure from power and pro-Assad forces have maintained attacks and sieges since the talks were renewed in late January.De Mistura met the head of the regime delegation, UN Ambassador Bashar al-Ja’afari on Wednesday. MESOP TODAYS TOP OF THE AGENDA : PYD FOLLOWS APO’S FOOTSTEPS

DO NOT SUPPORT PYD/PKK  / Why US might regret supporting PKK/PYD  / Opinion by pro Turkish  Anadolu News – 17 May 2017

Warning: written by Anadolu  ! But quite interesting !

“Another issue is that when the U.S. supports PYD, it is practically helping the Assad regime one way or another. Like Iran, the Assad regime has a long history of using terrorist organizations as a political tool. Indeed, Assad – the father- harbored, supported and used the PKK and its leader Abdullah Ocalan for a very long time against Turkey.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Bashar al-Assad has used the PYD. Fully aware of the hostility of the PYD, as an affiliate of the PKK, towards Turkey, the Syrian regime literally handed over many cities in northern Syria to the Kurdish militia in the early stages of the Syrian revolution. The goal was simply to create a buffer zone between Turkey and the Assad regime before indirectly manipulating it against Turkey.

Wherever the PYD fails to hold the territories it has occupied, it will invite the Assad regime to come in in order to prevent the Turkish-supported Syrian rebels from taking it. The city of Manbij in northern Syria is a living example of what might befall other cities where the U.S. continues helping the PYD to stretch its territorial control. MESOP TODAYS INSIGHT  ISIS

The War Against ISIS Has Just Begun | Bennett Seftel, The Cipher Brief

18 May 2017 – In many ways, while the battles against ISIS in Mosul and Raqqa may soon be over, the war against the terrorist organization has really just begun. Law enforcement bodies, intelligence services, and national security establishments must remain vigilant to prevent terrorist acts from occurring on their soil.

Expert Commentary

ISIS — From the Ground to Cyber Space | Colin Clarke, Political Scientist, RAND Corporation

ISIS’ tenure as an organization that controls vast swaths of territory and claims to be a legitimate caliphate is almost certainly coming to an end. But as the group transitions from an insurgency to an underground terrorist movement, more decentralized and diffuse, it will be able to survive and persist and remain capable of launching sporadic, if not spectacular, attacks.

Why ISIS Is Bullet-Proof | Michael W.S. Ryan, Senior Fellow, Jamestown Foundation

“The jihadist threat will be with us at some level for a long time. The psychic and physical scars from multiple wars will take time to heal. Additionally, the lack of water in a number of countries has destroyed local agriculture and local economies without any alternatives emerging from the chaos.”
