General Assembly discuss Geneva II and the interim government
10-11-2013 – The General Assembly of the National Coalition of the Syrian Opposition and Revolutionary Forces began meeting in Istanbul today to discuss several topics on the agenda, including issues related to the formation of the interim government and the Geneva II Conference. Khalid Saleh, Director of the Media Office, said, during a press conference held today, that the topics to be discussed in the meetings will be centered on “the interim government, which was commissioned to be formed by Dr. Ahmad Tomah.

MK Yakov Margi (Shas) met with Mohammed Adnan, head of the Association of Rebels in Syria, through the mediation of Mendi Safadi, the bureau chief of former Likud party minister Ayoob Kara. The two even gave an interview to Turkish television.

The situation in Syria may appear after two and a half years to have turned into a static and bewildering slaughter. Neither victory nor defeat seem imminent for any of the sides. But this picture is not entirely accurate. On one front, at least, there is movement in a clear direction. The Kurds of north eastern Syria are consolidating their autonomous enclave bordering Iraq. The Kurds call this area ‘Rojava’, or western Kurdistan. They have in the last two weeks inflicted a series of telling defeats on Al-Qaeda linked rebels on its borders .

8.11.2013 – A source in the Syrian Coalition stressed that remarks made by Russia’s Deputy FM, Mikhail Bogdanov, about inviting what he called the “opposition” and representatives of the Assad regime to hold talks at the level of an informal preparation for Geneva 2 as “reinforcing the efforts of the Assad regime to present an opposition that they created in its own image; an opposition that never once defended the rights of the Syrian people, and which is composed of so called ‘opposition’ figures who either participated in the killing of Syrian people, or were members of PM Halqi’s government, a government that Syria witnessed the use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people while under it, or an opposition that includes personalities reconciled with the Assad regime.”
