Corona & Verschwörungen : Ist die Lüge an der Macht?

Mai am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin: Die Polizei greift durch . – Hinter der Seuchenbekämpfung wirkt ein geheimer Plan: Immer mehr Menschen glauben so etwas, die Verschwörungstheorien breiten sich von den Rändern in die Mitte aus. Den ungeheuerlichsten Verdacht hegen zurzeit die Eliten selbst.

Das Grummeln wird lauter, das „Grundrauschen“, wie die Verfassungsschützer es nennen. Nicht einfach ein Unmut, wie er nach den Wochen drastischer Einschränkungen allseits erwartet worden ist. Vielmehr ein grundsätzlicher Verdacht, dass die Politik, die die deutsche Regierung und ein Großteil der Regierungen der Welt ergriffen haben, nicht die notwendige Gefahrenabwehr ist, als die sie sich ausgibt. Sondern dass in Wahrheit etwas ganz anderes dahinter steckt, etwas Dunkles, über das die verschiedensten Vermutungen kursieren, die aber alle in einem übereinkommen: Es ist eine Verschwörung gegen das Volk, ein Coup gegen die Demokratie.

Saturday, 2 May, 2020 – 10:30 ASHARQ AL AWSAT – US Ambassador James Jeffrey, the State Department’s special representative for the Syrian war and the fight against ISIS, said the US supports “in every possible way”, diplomatically and logistically, Israeli raids on Iranian sites in Syria.

In an exclusive interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, Jeffrey said that “Iran has very established footholds in the Syrian state and within Syrian society, “noting that many Arab countries” will never be in harmony with a man like (President Bashar) Assad. They can claim that they can distance him from the Iranian orbit, but I see that this is absolutely not possible.”

Militiamen killed in massive, multi-pronged ISIS attack in central Iraq

Khrush Najari |  2 May 2020 – ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – In the early hours of Saturday, members of the so-called Islamic State launched a multi-pronged offensive against positions held by Popular Mobilization Force (PMF) militia units in the central Iraqi province of Salahuddin. The attacks have resulted in at least ten deaths among various Iraqi forces, as per preliminary reporting.

Remnants of the terrorist organization attacked militia positions from four main locations in rural parts of Salahuddin, specifically in Tikrit, Samarra, al-Dur, and Balad, according to multiple Iraqi media reports that cited local officials.

MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : CLEVER DONALD ! – Was Trump’s call about oil with Saudi leader the start of a reset in relations?
As the US energy industry got hammered by both the impact of COVID-19 on global demand and a Russia-Saudi oil war, US President Donald Trump lit up the phones, making clear to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (known by his initials “MBS”) that they had to stop the free fall in prices.

In an April 2 call, according to Reuters, Trump warned MBS that unless the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) cut back on production, he might not be able to stop congressional legislation calling for the withdrawal of US forces from the kingdom.

Ten days later, Russia and OPEC cut production.

This all can probably be scored as both a win for US presidential diplomacy and a sign of the enduring centrality of Saudi Arabia in US energy and security policy, as the partnership enters a new, post-COVID-19 era.

Trump and MBS finish what Putin started

The oil price collapse and the COVID-19 crisis are linked at the start, as Daniel Yergin explains in Foreign Affairs. When China’s economy began to shut down in January and February with the early outbreaks of COVID-19, global demand for oil dropped by 6 million barrels per day. In March, Saudi Arabia proposed dramatic cuts in production to maintain price stability; Russia wanted to keep the previous OPEC+ agreement in place. They couldn’t agree, and both sides cranked up production. Prices fell from $56 per barrel in February to approximately $23 per barrel this past week — the lowest monthly average in years.

Putin also had his sights on dealing the US energy and fracking industry a setback. The United States had become a net energy exporter in 2019, but the decline in both demand and prices set back US energy production from its apex. The Energy Information Agency predicted the United States would be a net importer again in 2020.

Migranten aus Marokko und Algerien versuchen auf einmal, in ihre Heimatländer zurückzukehren. Die Corona-Pandemie treibt sie aufs Mittelmeer – und in die Hände von Schleusern.

Der Stillstand der spanischen Wirtschaft und verschärfte Polizeikontrollen haben offenbar dazu beigetragen, dass sich Nordafrikaner ohne gültige Visa mit der Hilfe geldgieriger Schmuggler wieder auf den gefährlichen Seeweg machen – dieses Mal Richtung Süden. Laut einem Bericht der Zeitung „El País“ zahlte eine Gruppe von mehr als hundert Marokkanern jeweils gut 5400 Euro für die Überfahrt in zwei Schlauchbooten nach Larache in den Nordosten Marokkos.
