APRIL 11, 2016 – NEW YORK TIMES – This week, United Nations talks meant to chart a path toward a peaceful, democratic future for Syria are set to resume in Geneva. But, in an absurd twist, the legitimate representatives of a large, democratically governed area in the country will not be invited to attend. This area is called Rojava, in the northern part of Syria, and despite its frequent description as “Kurdish,” it is governed inclusively by Kurds, Arabs, and the area’s other ethnic groups. Furthermore, its self-defense forces are part of the Syrian Democratic Forces backed by the United States that have advanced toward Raqqa, the center of the Islamic State’s power in Syria. 11 April 2016 – AL MONITOR – US Secretary of State John Kerry made an unannounced visit to Baghdad on April 8-9 to offer support for Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, who finds himself increasingly isolated among Iraq’s Shiite political and clerical leadership.
In response to popular demands for reforms, including a challenge from resurgent Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, Abadi submitted a proposal for a streamlined technocratic Cabinet on March 31, which Iraq’s Council of Representatives, or parliament, was to consider by April 12. Iraqi politicians across the political spectrum, including in the Shiite alliance, claim that Abadi did not consult political leaders and groups in making these selections. Abadi’s list faces steep resistance in the parliament, and even if it passes and the prime minister gets a reprieve, the pressure will be even greater on him to produce results. On Feb. 19, the German ambassador to Turkey was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry to give a statement on a new German textbook centered on the Armenian Genocide.
The book was prepared by Prof. Mihran Dabag, the director of the Institute for Diaspora Research and Genocide Studies (Institut fuer Diaspora und Genozidforschung) of the University of Bochum, Germany, and members of his staff. An Gadgets und Tablets für den Gebrauch sind diverse Quellen unterschiedlich beteiligt. Dort, wo mit Steuern am besten verfahren wird – oder an prekären Orten mit millionenfach Prekären?

Not und Armut, die Sorge um Verwandte und Freunde im syrischen Krieg steht in den Gesichtern geschrieben, die aus den Fenstern schauen. Diese Menschen haben alles verloren. Sie fragen sich, wie es weitergeht. Genau deshalb parken die teuren Schlitten vor dem Heim. Berlins berüchtigte arabische Großfamilien haben die Flüchtlinge entdeckt.
