MESOPOTAMIA NEWS DOCUMENTS : Final Statement : For the extraordinary conference of “Act for Afrin” – 30 April 2018
The founding conference of “Act for Afrin” was held on 29/4/2018 in the town of Waldorf – Bornheim near the German city of Bonn in the presence of more than 70 independent Kurdish personalities from the European Union, Switzerland, England and Canada.
The conference began with the national anthem of Kurdistan and a minute of silence. Greetings to the martyrs of the homeland and freedom. After welcoming the attendance of the conference, management committee, one of the founding members presented the ideas and principles that started “Act for Afrin” a while ago, believing in the necessity of cooperation and coordination among other national organizations and events. In order to lift the injustice against our people and end the tragedy that has been and is still being exposed to Kurds in Afrin city and the region of Kurdish Mountain now. Then, all the participants start to identify themselves and their activities of social, cultural and material to support our people, which needs all humanitarian assistance.
After a brief explanation of the subject of the conference and the objectives to be achieved, three committees of discussion were initiated by the members of the Conference:
– Legal Committee and documentation which will document all the violation been occurred against people of Afrin city and the people of the region belong to Afrin.
– Relief and Social Assistance Committee.
– Public Relations Committee.
Many of the specialists and activists in the fields of medical, legal and political, men and women, participated in these committees in a spirit of brotherhood and active contribution. The discussions were held between the members and questions been asked by the participants about the competence and objectives of each committee separately. The committees were accepted through legitimate election been held by the delegate of the conference.
After the completion of the work of the committees, there was a lunch break, and then the participants discussed the formation of a follow-up and coordination body. An administrative body of (7) members of the “Act for Afrin” been named. The proposal, which was overwhelmingly approved by the Congress, one member shall be elected by each committee of the Authority and shall be extended through the Public Relations Committee after obtaining the approval of the two trustees.
The committees and the administrative body will undertake the work that has been assigned to it within 3 months. Each committee shall submit a report in that period to the administrative board, which will publish a clear statement of its achievements on its website, to be accountable and ensure that it is doing its duty towards our people in Afrin. The registered member of congress at this founding conference have the right to call for another such a meeting to change those who failed to perform their duties or failed to perform in this difficult period of the history to the people of the Afrin, where the dangerous demographic change is taking place in the Kurdish region.
