Syria & Turkey have been in talks in Algeria
- June 2016 – A source close to Syrian Kurds has claimed that Ankara and Damascus have been in talks in Algeria and they have negotiated about Kurds in Syria.
According to ZerNews the source who is close to Syrian Kurdistan Canton leadership has claimed that Turkey and Syria have discussed many times in Algeria under the supervision of Iran.The source who wanted to remain unknown stated that federalism for Syrian Kurdistan and the situation in the Kurdish-dominated northern part of Syria have been discussed in the meetings. Turkey has stated in the gathering that it will cut its supports to opposition groups to Damascus if Syria prevents the establishment of a Kurdish region in northern Syria bordering Turkey’s south.
The claim comes days after former Turkey Intelligence Organization Chief, Ismaeil Haqi Pekin, has claimed that Turkey and Syria are in talks. www.mesop.de
