It is not the battle of Yabroud but the battle of Al-Qalamoun. Regular Syrian Army Forces, along side with Hezbollah Special Forces, initiated this week a ground attack against Al Qalamoun occupying strategic position and attacking cities around Yabrud. None of the forces engaged consider it is going to be an easy walk. The attacking forces describe the topography of al-Qalamoun, with its mountains and hills, as the ‘Syrian Tora-Bora’, referring to the infamous Afghan mountains.

16.2.2014 – Kurdpress – Addressing a gathering in Strasburg, France, on the 15th anniversary of the arrest of the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Abdullah Ocalan (Kurds call Apo), Muslim said:” Ocalan in the symbol of unity among Kurds and his disciples know the difference between Geneva and Lausanne and divide the Kurds.” There where protests in Syria Kurdish regions and the same day and many businessmen shot the doors of their shops but the supporters of the Kurds Patriotic Council did not join the strike. The union is against the PYD planes and actions in northern Syria due to its unilateral policies and marginalizing the other lines and sides in the Kurdish regions in the north of the war-torn country.

February 15th, 2014 – The news that the “Saudis Agree to Provide Syrian Rebels With Mobile Antiaircraft Missiles,” as reported by the Wall Street Journal (article copied below), will change the battle field in Syria. The newly formed “Southern Front” led by Bashar al-Zoubi, will be the main recipient. The WSJ says Zoubi has a direct line to Western and Arab intelligence agencies in a military operations room in Amman. He will be the primary recipient of these new, more lethal weapons. He went to Geneva for the talks with the Assad regime. Zoubi was included in my “Syria’s Top Five Insurgent Leaders.” He was #5. That ranking will now likely change. Syrian Army, Kurds Cut Supply to Militants in Hasaka
TEHRAN (FNA) Fars News – 16.2.2014 – The Syrian army and the Kurdish Popular Defense Committees in joint cooperation managed to cut supply routes to the militants in Hasaka in Northeastern Syria and regained control over the main road in the region and its surrounding villages. The Syrian army and local Kurdish forces seized control over Al-Abed, Al-Fallaheh, Abu Amshe and Masaken al-Filat al-Hamra villages as well as the Al-Satin route and the Unknown Soldier Square in the Eastern parts of Qaviran township in Hasaka city.

16-2-2014 Haaretz – Also on Saturday, Syria added opposition delegates at peace talks in Geneva to a “terrorist list” and seized their assets, including the house of one of them, anti-government negotiators and a diplomat said on Saturday.
The opposition delegation only learnt of the decision when a copy of the Justice Ministry decision was leaked this week to the opposition website http://www.all4syria.com, the sources said.
