19-4-2014 – Militärisch waren es Hizbollah und Iran, die das Überleben des Assad Regimes bislang ermöglicht haben, wie inzwischen auch hochrangige iranische Militärs stolz verkünden. Längst hört man, das syrische Regime habe inzwischen nicht mehr viel zu melden und seine iranischen Berater gewännen zunehmend an Einfluss. Gleiches gilt für die Hizbollah, die viel riskiert und inzwischen mit Tausenden ihrer besten Kämpfern in Syrien engagiert ist. Ob allen innerhalb der syrischen Regierung und des Militärs diese Entwicklung wirklich gefällt, ist äußerst fraglich, und in letzter Zeit mehren sich Berichte von offenen Auseinandersetzungen und wachsenden Spannungen:

17-04-2014 – ARA News – Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan– The Assayish forces (security wing of the Democratic Union Party PYD) arrested 17 members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria, including Haji Kalo, member of the Central Committee of the party.

“Moreover, the de facto authorities of the Syrian regime and the PYD have succeeded in silencing the national Kurdish, Arab and Syriac forces,” Sino argued.
Notably, these demonstrations came to show support to the candidacy of President Bashar al-Assad in the presidential elections expected in June.
17-04-2014 – ARA News – Hasaka, Syria– Supporters of the Syrian regime gathered on Wednesday in Hafiz al-Assad Square in the northeastern Syrian city of Hasaka to show support to the Syrian Army and President Bashar al-Assad. Leading members of the ruling Baath Party in Hasaka province participated in the gathering, which was protected by the pro-Assad security forces.
