Stalinists at work: Assayish (PYD) forces detain Kurdish politicians at Syrian-Iraqi borders
17-04-2014 – ARA News – Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan– The Assayish forces (security wing of the Democratic Union Party PYD) arrested 17 members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria, including Haji Kalo, member of the Central Committee of the party.
The Assaysh forces −who are in control over the Syrian border with Iraqi Kurdistan− arrested the party members on Tuesday midday near the border village of Karbalat while entering the Syrian territory. The members were returning from Iraqi Kurdistan where the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria held its foundational conference.Speaking to ARA News, Issam Heji Jasim, a member of the party cadre, said that the PYD-led Assayish forces arrested 17 members of their party at the border point of Karbalat village, among them a party leader, in addition to 4 female members. “After 6 hours of detention, the 4 female members were released and moved to the nearby city of Derik,” Haji Jasim said. “There is information that the rest of the detained members will be released in a few hours.” On Thursday, three other detained members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria were reportedly released, while the party’s leadership announced that the PYD-led Assayish forces still hold the other members.Notably, the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria was announced in the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Erbil, at the beginning of this April after ending the foundational conference which united the parties of the Kurdish Democratic Party (el-parti), the Kurdistan Yekiti Party, and the two wings of the Azadi Party.
