Joanna Paraszczuk  – EAworldvie – 19-10-2013 – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters Monday that state sponsors of the Syrian opposition were actively working to undermine the Geneva II peace conference. “It’s outrageous, it is unacceptable, it is on the conscience of those who pay for the opposition, all of the units (of the opposition) has its sponsor or patron, either in the region or beyond. Everyone knows this, including our American partners. They all say that the Geneva II process should start but they act to undermine Geneva II,” ITAR-TASS quoted Lavrov as saying.

28.10.2013 – APA Austria – Die iranischen Revolutionsgarden organisieren angeblich jede Woche geheime Flüge nach Damaskus. Das meldete die Zeitung “The National” aus Abu Dhabi am Montag unter Berufung auf einen syrischen Verantwortlichen mit Zugang zu sensiblen Daten am Flughafen der syrischen Hauptstadt. Demnach sollen auf diesen Flügen, die in keinem Flugplan auftauchen, auch iranische Kämpfer transportiert worden sein.

Scott Lucas – 28.10.2013 –  EAworldview – After weeks of heavy fighting, insurgents captured Tafas, north of Daraa city, in the south of the country — possibly cutting off Daraa, the site of the initial uprising against the Assad regime, from regime reinforcements.  That event was simple compared to the second headline: in the north, after 48 hours of confusion, the Kurdish militia YPG captured the Yaroubiyeh crossing on the Iraq border.

LATEST: Kerry Says Aid Must Get to Civilians…But Doesn’t Say How / SUMMARY: A report commissioned by United Nations agencies has claimed Syria’s economy is in a state of “spectacular collapse”.

The report said the country’s Gross Domestic Product contracted by 34.3% percent in the first quarter of 2013, and 39.6% in the second, compared to the same periods in 2012.
