Syria’s officials have begun four days of talks with Russian and Iranian counterparts in Moscow.

President Assad’s delegation is led by his senior adivsior Bouthaina Shaaban and Deputy Foreign Minister Feisal Mikdad. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Ministers Mikhail Bogdanov, Gennady Gatilov and Sergey Ryabkov and Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian are representing their Governments.

Turkey backing off support for jihadists on Syria border

The battle, which has Topcu caught in its crosshairs, is over a village called Susik that keeps switching hands.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has approached the civil war in Syria with caution. The authorities governing the Iraqi autonomous region, based in Erbil, have quietly played an important role in the humanitarian response to the crisis with 197,000 (according to the UN refugee agency) Syrian refugees on KRG territory, spread across three refugee camps in the main cities of Dohuk, Erbil, and Sulaimaniyah.

Barzani meets Turkey Kurdish deputies behind closed doors

19-11-2013 – Kurdpress – The President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani held a meeting on Sunday in Diyarbakir with the Kurdish deputies in Ankara Parliament, Radikal daily said.The one- hour meeting was held behind closed doors, where Barzani and the Kurdish deputies discussed amnesty general for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members and the situation of Syria Kurds.

A Syrian government delegation met with Russian officialsin Moscow Monday to discuss an international peace conference planned for Geneva. U.N. and Arab League Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi said that he hopes to convene the Geneva II conference in December. The talks in Moscow have come just days after Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for the first time in over two years.
