The Syrian rebel groups pulling in foreign fighters

Throughout the Syrian civil war, one of the major concerns of Western powers in particular has been the inflow of Sunni foreign fighters, who come from the wider Arab world, Western Europe, and as far afield as Kazakhstan and Indonesia. According to a recent estimate by Aaron Zelin of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, there could be up to 11,000 of these fighters. It raises the questions of which groups they join, and what the relations between these groups are.

YASA : Kurds recommend draft constitution for Syrian Kurdistan

Qehreman Abdulla – BasNews (Erbil): 23-12-2013 – The Kurdish Center for Studies and Legal Consultancy (YASA) has recommended a draft constitution for Syria’s Kurdish region.In November the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) announced that they would be forming an interim government in Syria’s Kurdish area. A number of Kurdish parties have criticized the move, accusing them of acting unilaterally.

INTER-KURDISH ROJAVA TALKS CONTINUING

ANF – HEWLER 23.12.2013 – Talks are continuing in South Kurdistan between the Rojava Peoples Assemblies (MGRK) and the Syrian Kurdish National Council (SKNC). The focus is currently on discussions going on within the SKNC. Ilham Ehmed, a member of the Kurdish Supreme Council, told the ANF about ongoing talks and efforts made by the Syrian National Coalition.
