Iraq will likely face several overlapping scenarios, including efforts to dissolve the government and mass street demonstrations, in the near future that could dramatically undermine its stability and pose a threat to the U.S. campaign against ISIS. In the most dangerous scenario, the Iraqi government could collapse and set off a chain of events that leads to the selection of a pro-Iranian Prime Minister. The article beneath it described terrible atrocities — beheadings, enslavement, torture — carried out by Isis militants on members of the Yazidi community in Sinjar and the surrounding villages. MESOP FLASH : Alleged PKK figure to be extradited to Germany from Sweden
STOCKHOLM,— 18 April 2016 – An alleged senior figure of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), who had been the subject of an international arrest warrant and caught in Stockholm, will be extradited to Germany in 15 days, a Swedish court has ruled.The suspect, Zeki Eroğlu, had been the subject of a red notice by the German Federal Prosecution Office since 2014 for allegedly being one of the senior figures of the organization in Germany between 2012 and 2014. Eroğlu requested political asylum in Sweden, Anadolu Agency reported on April 17. www.mesop.de

U.S. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter is in Iraq today to discuss ongoing operations against the Islamic State as Iraqi forces with coalition support continue to isolate the Islamic State-occupied city of Mosul. He will meet with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Defense Minister Khaled al-Obaidi to discuss additional capabilities the United States is willing to bring to the fight. “We are looking to do more,” Carter told reporters at an airbase near Abu Dhabi before departing to Iraq. “That ranges from in the air to on the ground. AL MONITOR 18 Aprl 2016 – The failure to date of Turkish-backed Syrian armed groups to retake the Syrian border town of al-Rai from the Islamic State (IS) should be a warning to US intelligence officials reportedly preparing a “plan B” for Syria, should the cessation of hostilities collapse.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Central Intelligence Agency and its regional partners are drawing up plans to provide more advanced arms, possibly including anti-aircraft weapons, to Syrian opposition forces as a contingency plan. Old habits and bad ideas seem to die hard in some Washington policy circles. One might recall, for example, the failure of the ill-fated initial train and equip mission, which cost $382 million to train 180 fighters, 95 of whom are reportedly still active. Mr. Netanyahu made his remarks at what his office described as a “festive” meeting of the cabinet in one of the Jewish settlements on the strategic plateau that Israel captured in the 1967 Middle East war. Today 17.04.2016 during a Iranian army parade a group of peshmerga forces attacked the army with light weapons such as AK-47, RPG 7 and hand grenades. at least 2 heavy armored vehicle were destroyed. Tens of regime thugs were killed and injured.
