SOUTH KURDISTAN (IRAQ) : Opposition will not support any demonstration on anniversary of 17th February
Kurdistan Tribune – 17.2.2013 – T he three opposition parties in the south of Kurdistan have announced that they are not supporting any demonstration on the anniversary of the state killings of demonstrators on 17th February 2011.
According to their statement: “They are supporting the civil struggle leading to reform and political change and will not advocate any violence, etc”. This statement also calls on the two ruling parties to name the murderers of 17th February and bring them to justice.At this stage the hopes and aspirations of the people are loosely coupled with the agenda of the three opposition parties. Today’s announcement comes at a time when the opposition is still hoping for some deal with the two ruling parties, although to date there is no sign of any tangible result.
