Salary crisis hits Barzani’s cabinet

15-2-2014 – BasNews – Salary crisis in Iraqi Kurdistan Region has arrived to the cabinet of the Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani who has ordered only half of the salary of his cabinet members should be paid.

Speaking to Xendan website, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Religion Affairs and Awqaf Public Relation’s President, Mariwan Naqshbandi, revealed the decision and stated only a small number of the cabinet members will receive the complete salary. The crisis is reportedly due to disputes between Erbil and Baghdad and the latter’s denial to send money to Erbil. Meanwhile Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki announced there were 76000 repeated names in the region’s salary list and only the salary of those names have not been sent to the region.
