Israel held out the possibility on Tuesday that it would not engage with US President Joe Biden on strategy regarding the Iranian nuclear program, urging tougher sanctions and a “credible military threat” against its arch-enemy.
The remarks by Israel’s envoy to Washington came at a touchy juncture for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Up for re-election next month, he has revived his hard line on Iran while not yet having any direct communication with Biden.

HEWLÊR-Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan region,— A rocket attack on U.S.-led forces in Iraqi Kurdistan Region late on Monday killed a civilian contractor and injured a U.S. service member, the U.S. coalition in Iraq said, in the deadliest such attack in almost a year.
The barrage of rockets hit in and near a military air base occupied by the U.S.-led coalition at Erbil International Airport. Two U.S. officials said the contractor who was killed was not American. The coalition said five other contractors were hurt, without elaborating.

Bedeutung der Karikatur als Symbol der französischen Meinungsfreiheit zu erklären. Für die „New York Times“ schien Frankreichs Umgang mit Muslimen und deren vermeintliche Verletzung durch die Karikaturen den Terrorismus fast schon zu rechtfertigen.

ERBIL, Region Kurdistan – Die türkischen Luftangriffe auf Teile der Region Duhok in der Region Kurdistan im Rahmen ihrer laufenden Operation in der Region werden immer häufiger, wie lokale Quellen am Samstag in Rudaw mitteilten.Die Streiks “haben materielle Schäden verursacht, und das Geräusch von Flugzeugen ist ständig am Himmel über den Unterbezirken Deralok und Chamanke zu hören”, sagte eine lokale Quelle zu Rudaws Nasir Ali, der anonym aus Angst vor Repercussion sprach.
Die Luftangriffe am Fuße des Gara-Gebirges nehmen seit der vergangenen Nacht zu, so die Quelle, und vier Hubschrauber hätten das Gebiet umrundet, wo “strategische PKK-Verstecke und -Stellungen” beheimatet
seien.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Turkey’s airstrikes on parts of the Kurdistan Region’s Duhok province as part of its ongoing operation in the area are growing ever more frequent, local sources told Rudaw on Saturday.
The strikes “have caused material damage, and the sound of planes can constantly be heard in the skies over Deralok and Chamanke sub-districts,” a local source told Rudaw’s Nasir Ali, speaking anonymously for fear of repercussion.
Airstrikes at the foot of Gara Mountain have been increasing in frequency since last night, the source said, and four helicopters had been circling the area, home to “strategic PKK hideouts and positions.”

Turkey ends military operation in Iraq following death of 13 captured personnel
- Ahval – Feb 14 2021 12:43 Gmt+3 Last Updated On: Feb 15 2021 12:29 Gmt+3- Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar announced the conclusion of a military operation in northern Iraq’s Gara region on Saturday after 13 Turkish soldiers, policemen and intelligence officials were killed in the area.
“Searches conducted in a cave that was taken under control following intense clashes revealed the bodies of 13 citizens who had been abducted,” BBC Turkish cited Akar as saying, while noting that over “50 targets were destroyed in an aerial operation.”
“First inspections revealed that one of our innocent and unarmed citizens had been shot in his shoulder, while the other 12 were martyred with shots to their heads,” the minister said.
According to Akar, the operation saw Turkish forces kill 48 members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an armed group that has been at war in Turkey for Kurdish self-rule for almost 40 years.
