Ahval NEWS Feb 22 2021 01:24 Gmt+3 – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his finance minister Lütfi Elvan defended Erdoğan’s son-in-law and Elvan’s predecessor over a slump in the nation’s foreign currency reserves last year.
Erdoğan and Elvan condemned the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) for taking aim at Berat Albayrak, the former treasury and finance minister who resigned unexpectedly in early November.
The CHP blames Albayrak for using up tens of billions of dollars of the reserves last year in a failed attempt to defend the lira. It has demanded that Albayrak and Erdoğan account for the losses.

Conscription by SDF agonizing Raqqa residents

It has been two years since Jaber, who works in a car repair shop, was stuck in Raqqa city, unable to leave it at all. He fears the conscription checkpoints spreading across his city’s suburbs.
Jaber Muhammad, 28 years old and resident of the al-Der’iyeh neighborhood on the western outskirts of Raqqa city, fends for a family of five.
“It is a life-threatening nightmare,” Jaber called the conscription drives led by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). He relives this nightmare every time the SDF forcibly enlists people in Raqqa.
On 26 January, the nightmare started to haunt Jaber all over again. The Defense Office of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria dispatched a circular calling all persons eligible for the so-called “duty of self-defense” to “legalize their status and obtain mandatory service booklet.”

Details of the investigation into the oil spill which led to an unprecedented ecological disaster along Israel’s Mediterranean Coast in recent days were placed under censor by the Haifa Magistrates Court on Monday, after a request was filed to do so by the Environmental Protection Ministry.
Any details which could identify the suspects – including the names of people or vessels, destination or exit ports, navigation routes or cargo – are forbidden for publication under the censor.
The decision to censor the details was described by Israeli media as “irregular.”

Wer in dieser Beschwörung schwarzer Gewalt bloß eine politische Provokation oder einen ästhetisch neutralisierten Ausdruck allzu verständlicher schwarzer Rachephantasien sehen wollte, konnte sich von Eldridge Cleaver eines Besseren belehren lassen. Unerschrocken gab der Mitbegründer der Black Panther Party preis, daß diese lyrischen Zeilen durchaus gelebtes Leben, auch sein eigenes, widerspiegelten: »I have lived those lines and I know that if I had not been apprehended I would have slit some white throats.«
Und selbstredend wußte Cleaver für diese sexualisierte Gewaltkultur, die ihn selber einmal ins Gefängnis brachte, gute politische Gründe vorzubringen: »Rape was an insurrectionary act. It delighted me that I was defying and trampling upon the white man’s law, upon his system of values, and that I was defiling his women. […] There are, of course, many young blacks out there right now who are slitting white throats and raping the white girl. They are not doing this because they read LeRoi Jones’ poetry, as some of his critics seem to believe. Rather, LeRoi is expressing the funky facts of life.«2
An diesen »funky facts« hat sich auch im Laufe von Jahrzehnten kaum etwas geändert, außer daß sie einstweilen zu »hate facts« geworden sind, die zu bennenen haßerfüllte Reaktionen hervorruft und noch dem trockensten Statistiker den projektiven Vorwurf von »hate speech“ einbringt.

Es ist eine Maßnahme, die ursprünglich im Westen begrüßt wurde, die nun aber als existenzielle Bedrohung für die biomedizinische Forschung in Großbritannien, Europa und den USA angesehen wird.

Hatespeech wächst im Internet auch dort, wo man sie nicht vermutet. Unter dem Deckmantel des Antirassismus machen Aktivisten mit Migrationshintergrund mobil gegen „alte weiße Männer“. Sie bedienen sich derselben Waffen wie ihre Kritiker.
Und Medien wie der Deutschlandfunk spielen ihr Spiel mit, schreibt Judith Sevinc Basad
„Hass im Netz“, „rechte Hetze“ und „Hatespeech“ sind Themen, über die Zeitungen gerne berichten. Zum Beispiel auf Zeit Online oder in der taz. Jüngst konnte man dort Artikel lesen, die die Entlassung des Welt-Kolumnisten Don Alphonso forderten. Der Grund: Der Bayer sei in Wahrheit ein Rechtsextremer, aber schlau genug, seinen Hass auf Minderheiten nicht offen auszuleben. Stattdessen würde er unbeliebte Personen auf Twitter „markieren“ und für seine Follower „zum Abschuss freigeben“. Auf inhaltliche Argumente, die die rechtsextreme Gesinnung des Autors belegen, wartet man aber vergeblich.

- Paul Iddon AVAL NEWS – Feb 21 2021 11:11 Gmt+3 – After a month in office, the Biden administration doesn’t appear to have a Syria policy. President Joe Biden hasn’t shown any inclination toward withdrawing U.S. troops from Syria, which his predecessor Donald Trump insisted on doing.
However, no solid policy has yet been announced by his administration. It has yet to appoint a replacement for Ambassador James Jeffrey for the position of United States Special Representative for Syria Engagement. On January 25, Aimee Cutrona, the Deputy Assistance Secretary for Levant Affairs, was appointed to serve the interim role of Acting Special Representative for Syria Engagement.
Analysts consulted by Ahval News shared their views of what a Biden policy towards Syria could possibly look like.
