MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : After a Decade of War in Syria, Israel Should Change its Policy
ISRAEL Should Change its Policy
Udi Dekel, Carmit Valensi – INSS Insight No. 1451, April 7, 2021 – ISRAEL
Israel has preferred “the devil it knows” – Bashar al-Assad, who opened the door to Iran – over the chance to change the reality in Syria. Now, however, is the time for a paradigm shift in Israel’s approach – to stop sitting on the sidelines, recognize that Syria will remain divided, and work intensively to obstruct efforts by Iran and its proxies to consolidate their power in the northern arena over time
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : THE FRUITS FROM MORIA – Sweden’s migrant rape crisis
European liberals never ask uncomfortable questions about immigration
BY AYAAN HIRSI ALI – Ayaan Hirsi Ali is a research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, Founder of the AHA Foundation, and host of The Ayaan Hirsi Ali Podcast. Her new book is Prey: Immigration, Islam, and the Erosion of Women’s Rights. UNHERD MAGAZINE April 7, 2021
Was the 2015 European migration crisis followed by a surge in sex crime and sexual harassment? It’s a delicate question; one that many people would prefer not to be asked, much less answered.
But as a result of this collective reticence, discussion surrounding this issue has often been isolated to two extremes. On the one hand, it has been dominated by the populist Right. In response to the Cologne sexual assaults of New Year’s Eve 2015-16, for example, German supporters of Alternative für Deutschland rioted and called for mass deportations. Meanwhile, at the other end of the spectrum, the response of many European liberals and progressives has been that of the three wise monkeys: “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.”
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : AFTER DOWGOING OF BRUSELS NOW – The Europeanized USA
By Dr. Alex JoffeApril 7, 2021 – The deplatforming of Donald Trump – BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 1,988, April 7, 2021 – ISRAEL
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: America is undergoing a rapid transformation founded in a moral panic over race that masks the exercise of class-based power in which technology companies and left-wing politics have united to wield unprecedented control. The outcome will likely be a union of Europeanized states where freedoms are severely curtailed and social cohesion is minimized in favor of dependency.
America’s friends and allies looked upon the Trump years as epitomizing the worst tendencies of isolationism, jingoism, and xenophobia. With the Biden administration barely a few months old, an entirely new path has been charted. But whether America’s friends and allies will cheer the emerging outcomes remains to be seen.
Several processes familiar to Europeans have taken hold with ferocity in the US:

- Ahval NEWS Apr 07 2021 12:48 Gmt+3 – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen was left standing without a chair at a top-level EU meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Tuesday.
Von der Leyen, the head of the EU’s executive arm, stood visibly perplexed as Erdoğan and Charles Michel, president of the European Council, settled into two gilded Ottoman-style chairs flanked by EU and Turkish flags at the presidential palace in Ankara.
“Em?” was her response as she looked at Erdoğan and Michel questioningly.

The attack reportedly came in retaliation for earlier Iranian strikes on Israeli vessels, as the maritime shadow war between the Jewish state and the Islamic republic has been slowly coming to light.
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS INTEL: Did former US officials support extremists in Syria as an ‘asset’?
It is unclear why the US saw these groups as assets, considering that not long ago, they were cheering 9/11 and supporting genocidal terrorism.
By SETH J. FRANTZMAN APRIL 6, 2021 11:05 JERUSALEM POST
In a bizarre twist of the remnants of the Syrian civil war, it was revealed in a recent PBS interview that the former US envoy on Syria saw an extremist group as an “asset” in the war-torn county.
How this was revealed is a circuitous route that ended with an interview by PBS Frontline correspondent Martin Smith in Syria’s Idlib province. Smith spoke with Mohammad al-Jolani, a terrorist and senior extremist Islamist leader whose group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (Levant Liberation Committee – HTS) has turned Syria’s Idlib province into a mini theocratic state.
According to the article at PBS, former US Syria Envoy James Jeffrey, who also headed a separate envoy’s office to the US-led anti-ISIS coalition, told Smith that Jolani’s organization was an “asset” to US strategy.
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : Vienna talks on nuclear deal end well, say European officials / Vienna Grand Hotel Meeting
RUDAW 7 April 2021 Holly Johnston – ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — The first round of talks in Vienna on the Iran nuclear agreement have ended well with concrete steps to revive “full implementation of the deal”, European officials said on Tuesday.
“Constructive Joint Commission meeting. There’s unity and ambition for a joint diplomatic process with two expert groups on nuclear implementation and sanctions lifting,” said Enrique Mora, the European Union chief of the joint commission talks. Mora said he will “intensify” meetings with all parties, including the US, in the Austrian capital.
Russian diplomat Mikhail Ulyanov said the meeting was “successful”,
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS NEW :Instability in neighboring Jordan is ‘bad news’ for Israel
For the past several years, Jordan has come under increasing strain due to wars in bordering Iraq and Syria, which has led to many refugees resettling in Jordan. Combine a population holding divergent loyalties with a poor economic situation, and the result has been unrest. – BY ARIEL BEN SOLOMON – JEWISH NEWS SYNDICATE
(April 6, 2021 / JNS) The arrest last weekend of nearly 20 people, including former Crown Prince Hamza bin Hussein, by Jordanian authorities in what is being viewed by some as a coup attempt has led to fears over the stability of the strategic Arab state.
Jordan, a key U.S. and Israeli ally, is important for Israel’s national security because it serves as a buffer against radical forces from within the country as well as those further east, Israeli Middle East experts told JNS.
