New Head of Kurdistan Mission to the European Union

By Roni Alasor and Lorin Sarkisian  – Ararat News – 14.3.2013 – Delavar Ajgeiy, former coordinator of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Denmark and head of the European Desk for Kurdistan Democratic Party, has been appointed as Head of the Kurdistan Mission to the European Union in Brussels.

Delavar Ajgeiy, former coordinator of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Denmark and head of the European Desk for Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), has been appointed as the new Head of the Kurdistan Mission to the European Union (EU) in Brussels.

Delavar Ajgeiy will replace Mr. Carlos Kurdi (Selim Gravi) as Head of KRG Mission to the EU. The Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations, Minister Falah Mustafa Bakir thanked Mr. Kurdi for his work and congratulated Delavar Ajgeiy with the new position.

The former Head of KRG Mission in Brussels Mr. Carlos Kurdi welcomed the appointment of Mr. Ajgeiy: “Delavar Ajgeiy is from the new generation Kurdish diplomats who have grown up in Europe and have good experience with the European diplomacy, economy, culture and politics. I am sure that Kurdistan Region will develop further dynamic cooperation and fruitful partnerships in the heart of the EU capital Brussels”.

Mr. Delavar Ajgeiy thanked Mr. Kurdi for all his work during the last two years and for his contribution to the development of Kurdistan Region foreign relations: “Mr. Carlos Kurdi is an experienced Kurdish politician, diplomat and businessman, known for his efforts to establish relations between Kurdistan Region and Spain in a time when it was not always easy to approach foreign countries. Mr. Kurdi raised for first time officially the Kurdish flag abroad. Today we have this respectable building of the KRG Representation in Brussels, as well as developed contacts with diplomats and institutions from different countries based in Brussels as result of the efforts of Mr. Kurdi and his staff”.

Mr. Ajgeiy received his master degree from Copenhagen University in Denmark and he speaks five languages, Kurdish, English, Danish, Arabic and Persian. On the new position of Head of KRG Mission to EU, Delavar Ajgeiy is committed to strengthening the relations between Kurdistan Regional Government and EU through common initiatives and different forms of cooperation.

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s Mission to the EU has been established in Brussels in 2000. The Mission’s main objective is to maintain and strengthen the political, economic and cultural relations between the Kurdistan Region and the European Union institutions.
