Turkey government contributed to PKK mistakes: Erdogan deputy

27.5.2015 – KURDPRESS – The economic deputy of Turkey ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Turkey government contributed to the Kurdish problem and mistakes committed by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

“We cannot put all the responsibilities on the PKK. The government, too, has been unfortunately a part of the committed crimes. I have seen hundreds of villagers whose homes have been set on fire,” professor Noman Kortulmus said. He added that the Kurdish question would not have been as complicated as it is today if the coup government of the 1980s had not committed the savage crimes against Kurds in the Diyarbakir Prison.  All the wrong policies pushed the Kurdish brothers towards the PKK, he told students, most of them Turkish. He, however, denied the establishment of a federal government in Turkey.  “The country is for the Kurds as much as it is for the Turks. We are going to live together till the doomsday and no one can divide as,” he said. “Some have protested teaching Kurdish language issue, but that’s their (the Kurds’) very right as no one of us has picked out his language before birth.”

A Turkish political and economist, Kortulmus is an old and close disciple of revered Turkey Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan who, along with party members, joined AKP last year.
