EU to lift visa regime by June, double financial aid to Turkey: Draft agreement
BRUSSELS – 7 March 2016 – Hurriyet – Turkey and the European Union apparently reach a deal on refugees under which Ankara will receive (additional) 3 billion more euros in aid. The European Union and Turkey have settled on an additional 3 billion euros in funds to combat the influx of migrants to the bloc while also reaching a deal on visa-free in tough talks at an extended summit in Brussels on March 7. The EU offered to lift visa requirements and provide an additional 3 billion euros in aid to Turkey, after a half-day summit was extended upon Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s suggestion of “new ideas” going beyond Ankara’s commitments to curb a flood of migrants to Europe, Reuters and Turkish Prime Ministry sources have reported. March 7, 2016 – ARA NEWS – ALEPPO – Russian warplanes conducted on Sunday several airstrikes on a town held by militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria’s northern province of Aleppo, killing and wounding a number of civilians, according to local activists. The Russian airstrikes hit the ISIS-held town of Umm Kharza in the eastern countryside of Aleppo. At least five civilians were killed and a dozen more injured in the strikes.
