MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : Thousands Lose Job as Iran Blocks Border: MP

BasNews 1 9/04/2018 – 11:05 – ERBIL – A Kurdish MP at the Iranian Parliament has revealed that around 80,000 porters have become jobless since the beginning of the cross-border porters closure by the government.A few months ago, the Iranian government issued a decree to block the cross-border porters under the pretext of developing the country’s domestic economy in the Kurdish areas.

On the fourth day of the strike, Rasul Khizri confirmed to Icana News Agency that approximately 80,000 porters have lost their jobs.However, hundreds of people have been staging a strike in seven cities, including Sanandaj and Piranshahr, to protest the blockade by the closing their shops and gathering in front of public offices.According to sources, the security forces have detained ten demonstrators and tried to put an end to the demonstrations, but the gatherings have so far been continuing.
