MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : THE REASON WHY OMAR ALLOUSH HAS BEEN KILLED – 18 March 2018
The killing of Omar Alloush (Syria/Kurdistan) is almost certainly an indication of things to come in northern Syria. The regime/Russian/Iranian side is aware that it cannot destroy the SDF area through conventional means,for as long as the area is protected by US airpower. What it is therefore likely to do is to begin a ‘strategy of tension’ within the area, including assassinations, mobilization of clients into proxy forces, agitation and unrest, in order to render the area ungovernable and the de facto authorities there illegitimate. This is what Russia/Assad/Iran does well. As friends point out below, Turkey also uses such methods, and the destabilization of the area in question is a joint interest for regime, Iran and Turkey.
