Internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Nineveh Province of Iraq experience complex and interlocking barriers to return that are conditioned upon geography, gender, and sectarian identity, among other factors. To examine these barriers more closely, MERI conducted a meta-analysis of existing literature on this issue, and addressed important analytical and contextual gaps with original field research. The Executive Summary below distills key findings to inform and enhance stakeholder policies. Full report forthcoming.
