US Assistant Secretary of Defense: ‘Our experience with SDF was a unique experience’

31 July 2019 – ANH  –  US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East Michael “Mick” Patrick Mulroy  said: “The USA experience with SDF was a unique experience, as it began to coordinate with a few hundred troops in 2015, to develop into a wide and varied force that depends on it.” Mulroy stressed that the US presence and support was not “decisive” in the experience of SDF and that “the decision and access to the liberation of the last bastion of Daesh in Syria were by SDF.”

Michael Mulroy told reporters that the United States has three successful military coordination experience with the Middle East, in Iraq, Jordan and with SDF.”

 

These experiences led to successful joint US campaigns with the Middle East to defeat terrorism, and it was the best experience ever, in which the United States found reliable partners, which led to successful campaigns,” Mulroy said in a press conference organized by the Middle East Institute.

“The USA experience with SDF was a unique experience, as it began to coordinate with a few hundred troops in 2015, to develop into a wide and varied force that depends on it,” he said.

Mulroy stressed that the US presence and support was not “decisive” in the experience of SDF and that “the decision and access to the liberation of the last bastion of Daesh in Syria were by SDF.”

He said that the American objectives in northern Syria are still focused on America’s commitment to keeping the region safe and secure from extremist organizations such as Daesh, pointing out that the defeat on the ground does not mean for the US Department of Defense ending the threat completely, US will help SDF to return of the prisoners of Daesh to their countries and support local councils of the region.

The Assistant US Secretary of State, stressed the US desire to see a political process launched in Syria towards the implementation of Security Council resolution 2254 to ensure the involvement of all Syrians in the manufacture of their future.
