MESOPOTAMIA NEWS FOCUS : Hamid Al-Abd: Russian guarantor favors Turkish occupation in its shelling of Ain Issa

The Co-chair of the Girê Spî canton, Hamid al-Abd questioned the role of the Russian guarantor as an observer of the ceasefire in Ain Issa, stressing that it favors the Turkish occupier in its continued bombardment of Ain Issa and its countryside to put pressure on the Syrian Democratic Forces and achieve political and military interests on the Syrian lands.

The co-chair of Girê Spî canton came against the background of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries escalating shelling operations on the outskirts of Ain Issa district and the countryside of Girê Spî canton with artillery shells on a daily basis in front of the Russian guarantor’s eyes.

In his speech, al-Abd condemned the Russian silence about the attacks, questioning its role as a guarantor, saying: “The Russian state is in Ain Issa with its military bases and until now has done nothing,” considering that the intensification of these attacks comes with Russian complicity with the Turkish party to achieve gains on the ground.

He doubted the Russian role in the region, stressing that the people of north and east Syria do not trust the role of the Russian guarantor, but they respect the international agreements that led to the entry of the Russian state into the region after the Sochi agreement on October 22, 2019 as a guarantor of the ceasefire along the contact lines between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Turkish occupation army.

After its brutal attack on the regions of north and east Syria on the 9^th of October of 2019, the Turkish state occupied the cities of Girê Spî and Serêkaniyê, in addition to large parts of the countryside of these two cities.

Al-Abd added, “Since the Russian state entered as a” guarantor “of the ceasefire agreement, it has been working to blackmail the Syrian Democratic Forces, in collusion with the Turkish state, by increasing bombardment along the lines of contact with the aim of handing these areas over to the Syrian government forces.”

The Co-chair of Girê Spî canton adhered to the option of resistance embodied by the Syrian Democratic Forces, which is working to repel all attempts and occupational plans of the Turkish state, which is greedy to occupy more Syrian lands.

At the end of his speech, Al-Abd called on the international community and the administration of US President Joe Biden to stop the Turkish attacks and its new terrorism, which is represented in threatening the entire world, to support the peoples of north and easte Syria and their heroic forces in repelling the barbaric attacks on their regions and liberating the usurped Syrian lands.
