He had previously met ‘a dynamic and forward-looking young politician,’ Nechirvan Barzani, ‘the prime minister of the fledgling state of Kurdistan’ and wrote that ‘…we should help because we have a moral duty to that part of the world. Ukrainian Leader to Have ‘Drop-In’ Meeting With Trump
20 June 2017 – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will meet U.S. President Donald J. Trump and National Security Advisor H. R. McMaster at the White House (Guardian) on Tuesday. Poroshenko called the meeting, which is expected to be brief, an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss “cooperation in the security, political, and economic spheres.” President Trump will not be obliged to make a public statement about bilateral relations. Poroshenko’s office quoted him as saying it is “very important” his meeting takes place before Trump’s first encounter with Russian President Vladimir Putin (RFE/RL) at a G20 summit in Germany this July. Poroshenko commended the U.S. Senate for imposing new sanctions against Russia, saying they are an appropriate mechanism “to force the aggressor to get away from Ukraine” (Reuters).

On Sunday, US F-18s downed the Russian-made Su-22 jet as it was attacking Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces near Tabqa in northern Syria. SDF vows to resist Syrian government attacks near Raqqa
June 20, 2017 Syria – ARA News – The Syrian Democratic Forcess (SDF) official spokesman Talal Silo said on Monday they will respond to any Syrian government attacks in Raqqa province after the US-led coalition downed a Syrian jet attacking the SDF forces on 18 June.
“After heroic resistance from our forces and allied forces against terrorism and as part of the operation launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces [SDF], the regime forces have launched since 17 June large-scale attacks using fighter jets, artillery and tanks on the areas liberated by our forces,” Silo said, with reference to the SDF-led operation against ISIS in Raqqa.“The aim of the Syrian regime’s repeated attacks against our forces is to abort the operation to liberate the city of Raqqa,” the SDF spokesperson said. 20 June 2017 – ARA NEWS – The Pentagon decided on Monday to re-position the US-led coalition’s warplanes in Syria. This comes after Russia threatened that coalition fighter jets will be viewed as targets in Syria, following the downing of a Syrian regime’s jet by the US-led coalition near Raqqa. – “As a result of recent clashes with Syrian pro-regime and Russian forces, we took precautions to change the disposition of the aircraft in Syria in order to continue fighting Islamic State, while maintaining safety of our pilots – considering the known threats on the battlefield,” Pentagon’s spokesman Adrian Rankine-Galloway told reporters on Monday. Iraqi Shiite militias undermine Kurdistan region, Kurdish envoy to U.S. says
20 June 2017 – WASHINGTON TIMES ,— The top Iraqi-Kurdish representative to the U.S. said Iranian-backed Shia militias could undermine the security and stability of the Kurdistan region once the Islamic State threat to the country is defeated.
The Iranian-backed Hajd Al-Shaabi militias have been an integral fighting force in operation to liberate Mosul — a battle largely seen as winding down since the offensive was launched in February — and other areas under the control of the Islamic State, yet Kurdistan Regional Government Representative to the U.S. Bayan Sami Abdul Rahman said it’s not guaranteed that the militia forces would work under the Iraqi forces and would more likely support their own interests in the region. 20 June 2017 – If you take Defense Secretary James Mattis at his word, the United States in coming years will be doing nation-building in Iraq and Afghanistan, once the ISIS and Taliban forces are defeated. That was the repeated message Mattis and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford gave last week to House and Senate members of the Armed Services and Appropriations Committees during their testimony on the Pentagon’s fiscal 2018 budget.
Interestingly, no one raised a question about President Donald Trump’s repeated campaign statements that the days of U.S. nation-building were over. But there were many questions directed at where the money and personnel would come from to support nation-building, given the deep 30 percent cuts proposed by the Trump administration for the State Department and Agency for International Development (AID) in the fiscal 2018 budget. Zahlreiche Dschihadisten gingen ein und aus – laut amerikanischer Gerichtsdokumente wurden mindestens 35 Guantánamo-Insassen in der Finsbury-Park-Moschee radikalisiert. Die britische Zeitung „The Guardian“ berichtete 2002 sogar von Waffenübungen in dem Gebäude. Zum Gesicht des Gotteshauses wurde der Imam Abu Hamza al Masri, der sein Amt vor allem als Hassprediger versah. Nach einer Razzia schloss die Polizei das Gotteshaus im Jahr 2003.
