Iraq Reinforces Its Border With Saudi Arabia
By Ivan Castro – Al-Masdar News – 2017-7 June 2017 – A large convoy of Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) has been noticed moving towards Iraqi-Saudi border. Iraqi journalist, Haidar Sumeri, published a video footage of the convoy travelling through desert terrain: This comes amid sharpening tensions between Saudi Arabia and Qatar as the latter is on the verge of partial diplomatic isolation.
According to Sumeri, Iraqi authorities have already built a Najaf — Karbala — Saudi border defense line, and current deployment of PMU is the next stage of Iraq’s security build-up near southern border. It is also noteworthy that Iraqi government openly expressed support for Qatar in their conflict with Saudi Arabia, saying that “Qatar is being unfairly accused”.

First Iranian Kurdish Prisoner Executed in June
Basnews English – 07/06/2017 – 14:43 – ERBIL — The first Kurdish inmate was executed in June by Iran in Khorramabad city in Lorestan province on Tuesday.
According to Hengaw, a human rights agency, Homayon Tulabi, a 30-year-old Kurdish citizen of Khorramabad who was sentenced to death in Parsilon prison of the city was executed on Tuesday. The Kurdish citizen was sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary on charges of first-degree murder. He was executed during the Islamic holly month of Ramadan while the Iranian authorities typically halt executions in this month. According to the statistics recorded by Hengaw agency, 47 Iranian Kurdish prisoners have been executed since the beginning of this year. www.mesop.de

Sardar Sattar – BASNEWS – 07/06/2017 – 18:15 – In a multilateral meeting chaired by Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani in Erbil, the participants set September 25th of this year as the date to hold the referendum on Kurdistan’s independence.
The sides also decided to hold presidential and parliamentary elections later on November 6th.Earlier BasNews revealed that Barzani is holding a broad meeting with the Kurdish political parties to discuss a range of issues including the independence referendum.
