But one key factor in both leaders’ success is a fragmented and polarized opposition that is unable to project alternative leaders or policies. The tone and manner of opposition politics are made more extreme by their own sense of entitlement, and are pushed further left by bullying from the elected leadership. Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and intensive military operations in Syria have caused a very big problem: a shortage of qualified people to man its occupation forces. This personnel gap, caused by permanent, heavy losses suffered by Russia’s forces, has drastically changed the scale and character of its military missions. – At the early stages of the conflicts, this shortage of qualified military personnel was corrected by recruitment from the Army Special Operations Forces, the Federal Security Service (FSB), the Foreign Intelligence Service, and other special services. But now, to fill this gap further, Russia has moved to employ private military companies (PMC), expand its recruitment base, and punish contract soldiers for refusing to partake in its illegitimate operations. Council of Europe body to vote on Turkey status April 25
ANKARA – Hurriyet – 25 Apr 2017 – The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is scheduled to meet on April 25 to discuss whether to degrade Turkey’s status and reopen a monitoring process against the country, in what has been decried as a politically motivated move by Ankara. The co-rapporteurs of the monitoring committee have recommended that the assembly “re-open the monitoring procedure in respect to Turkey until its concerns are addressed in a satisfactory manner.” The initiative to degrade Turkey’s status is “openly a political operation” against Turkey, presidential spokesperson İbrahim Kalın said April 24. The sanctions order American banks to freeze assets and bars US companies from transactions. Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said Washington would “relentlessly pursue and shut down the financial networks of all individuals involved with the production of chemical weapons used to commit these atrocities.”

24 April 2017 – Zum Ablauf der ersten 100 Tage der Präsidentschaft von Donald J. Trump veröffentlichte die Washington Post und der Fernsehsenders ABC eine interessante Umfrage.
Wenn heute die Wahl zwischen Donald J. Trump und Hillary Clinton wäre, würde Trump 43 Prozent der Stimmen erhalten, Clinton kommt nur auf 40 Prozent. Im November hatten die Meinungsforscher für Clinton noch 46 Prozent ermittelt. Aktuell erklären 53 Prozent der US-Bürger, Donald J. Trump sei für sie ein „starker Präsident“. 49 Prozent glauben, die Wirtschaft werde einen Aufschwung erleben und blicken optimistisch in die Zukunft – der höchste Wert seit 15 Jahren, berichtet der israelische Nachrichtensender Arutz Sheva. Mein Freund Dany, der schon zu seiner Zeit schwach in kritischer Theorie wie jeglichem anderen Wissen ebenfalls war, erklärt vis a vis Len Pen / Macron die Historie:

Er erklärt in formal-analogischer Schlichtheit die Armut aus der Poverty – und Macron aus Macron und Le Pen aus Le Pen. Auf keinen Fall aus der Tatsache der Eliten, die einen finanzkapitalistisch unattraktiven riesigen Sektor Frankreichs schlicht als ihnen nutzlos abgehängt haben. Diesen Leuten sind Menschen gleichgültig, wie den Nazis auch.
