On Sunday, April 16, Turkey voted to grant President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sweeping executive powers, fundamentally altering the foundations of the Turkish state. Ahead of the vote, POMED published a new report by Nonresident Senior Fellow Howard Eissenstat, “Erdoğan As Autocrat: A Very Turkish Tragedy.”
Eissenstat warned, “One of the core arguments that President Erdoğan has offered for expanding his power through constitutional reforms is that further centralization of authority will increase stability. Yet the experience of the past ten years has demonstrated that the opposite is true. Without reestablishing rule of law and the independence of state institutions, without creating opportunities for those out of power to participate in their own political futures, the instability that has rocked the country over the past five years likely will intensify. The tragedy of Turkey’s failure is immense.”

MESOP COUNTING : BETWEEN 20 / 35 % Percent of Voters in Kurdish Areas pro Erdogan
ANF Kurdish Agency 17 Apr 2017 – One of these cities is Şırnak and its districts. In Cizre, attacked by the Turkish state for months, almost completely destroyed, 81.3% of the voters said “NO” to Erdoğan’s one man dictatorship, while in another attacked district the “NO” vote was at 74.8%.
The then-Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu had attacked the Sur district for months, and claimed they would “turn it into Turkey’s Toledo”. The district voted 64.9% “NO” to “becoming Toledo”. As places most affected by the AKP’s policies of war, Silvan said “NO” with 78.9% and Lice with 85.7%.

MESOP NEWS REFERENDUM RESULTS IN KURDISTAN (TURKEY)
Another surprising result was Muş’s support for the changes, despite the fact that in the last general elections 61.8 percent of the province backed the HDP. Muş, just like Urfa, is home to an electorate that is politically very similar to the rest of the AK Party constituency.
Investment flow toward the region and Kurdish community’s outlook directly affects nationalistic sentiments.
While not considered a HDP stronghold like Hakkari, Siirt, Batman, Mardin, Şırnak or Diyarbakır, Kars too is a province where the party receives significant support, 34 percent in the last elections. In the June 7, 2015 elections, the HDP, which had garnered significant support due to concerns that it would not be passing the 10 percent threshold, received 43 percent backing in Kars. - Belässt man Migranten dort, wo sie sind, werden sie dort rebellisch + kämpfen für Demokratisierung –
Nur 36% der Deutschtürken sind gegen das Ermächtigungsgesetz von Erdogan. Wenn man weiß dass 25% der hier lebenden Türken eigentlich Kurden/Aleviten sind, die solch Gesetz aus existentiellen Gründen ablehnen und weitere christliche Assyrer und Aramäer berücksichtig, die auch gegen diese Verfassungsänderung sind, dann liegt die Zustimmungsquote für die Einführung der Diktatur bei den muslimischen nichtkurdischen Türken schon bei über 90%. Also sind die Türken in Deutschland gar nicht gespalten, was Erdogan angeht – wie es tendenziell in der Türkei der Fall ist, – sondern stehen geschlossen hinter dem Islamismus, dem Chauvinismus und der Todesstrafe. Kein Mensch kann mir danach erzählen, dass die Integration nicht gescheitert ist.

Am Ostersonntag des Jahres 1964 schrieb Rudi Dutschke, wenige Jahre später der große An- und Wortführer der Studentenrevolte in Westdeutschland, folgende Sätze in sein Tagebuch: Jesus ist auferstanden, Freude u[nd] Dankbarkeit sind die Begleiter dieses Tages; die Revolution, die entscheidende Revolution der Weltgeschichte ist geschehen, die Revolution der Welt durch die allesüberwindende Liebe. Nähmen die Menschen voll die offenbarte Liebe im Für-sich-Sein an, die Wirklichkeit des Jetzt, die Logik des Wahnsinns könnte nicht mehr weiterbestehen.
Dieser Tagebucheintrag überrascht, weil man Dutschke und “die 68er” für gewöhnlich nicht mit Religion in Verbindung bringt. Die Menschen der Türkei stehen hinter Erdogan, diejenigen in allen europäischen Ländern noch viel mehr, wo Erdogan – wie in Deutschland – beste Ergebnisse erzielt hat – weil hier die Integration oder gern auch Hybridisierung genannt eben nicht stattgefunden hat. Nach Angaben der staatlichen Nachrichtenagentur Anadolu kommt das Ja nach Auszählung fast aller Stimmen im Ausland auf 63,1 Prozent. Die Wahlbeteiligung in Deutschland liegt bei knapp 50 Prozent.
