Turkey and Israel are resuming their normal relationship. This turn in Turkey’s foreign and regional policy comes after reaching an impasse in its relationship with most of its neighbors and after the grandiose ambition a few years ago to become a power center in the Middle East. The crisis six year ago shifted the relationship between Israel and Turkey to a different stage. Israel’s image has been transformed, in the eyes of the Turkish population, to being seen from an apocalyptic religious viewpoint, rather than a political one, which overlaps with the rest of the Arab world. MESOP REPORT : PKK denies death of its military commander
HASAKAH – The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) on Saturday denied the news that PKK military commander Bahoz Erdal was killed in Syria. ARA NEWS – 10 July 2016 – A spokesperson of the unknown Tel Hamis brigade told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Erdal’s car was blown up on Friday in Qamishli city in northeastern Syria, with his guards. The news was quickly denied by the PKK. “Our Commander Bahoz Erdal is on his duty in the mountains of Kurdistan,” said Bahtiyar Dogan, the official spokesperson of the People’s Defence Forces (HPG), accusing the Turkish media of spreading lies. Turkey May Give Citizenship to 300,000 Refugees / PKK REJECTS
10 July 2016 – Up to 300,000 Syrian refugees living in Turkey may be given citizenship under a plan to keep the wealthy and Syrians in the country, according to Turkish media reports. The claims follow last week’s statement by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan suggesting that Syrians could become Turkish citiznes.The Turkish daily Habertürk said nationality will be given step-by-step, with initial plans covering 30,000 to 40,000 Syrians and giving eligibility to family members. Educated refugees from other countries could choose to become nationals as well. – The plan would waive the provision of living in Turkey for at least five years before gaining citizenship.
