Speaking to BasNews on Saturday, head of Sinjar Administrational Council, Wais Naif, said the situation in and around Sinjar is almost stable now, but following the military clashes between PKK and Roj Peshmerga forces earlier this month, the local residents are deeply concerned.He further explained that PKK’s new deployment to Sinjar Mountain and Khansor has also added to the threat. “The PKK has sent more fighters and military equipment to Khansor as an indication of preparations for war,” Naif pointed out, hoping the party will not further challenge the intense situation in the area. www.mesop.de

A powerful Iran-supported Iraqi Shiite militia group has announced the creation of a new brigade to “liberate” the Golan Heights from Israel, the Iranian media reports. “After the latest victories [in Syria and Iraq], we established the ‘Golan Liberation Brigade’. This is a trained army with specific plans. If the government of Syria requests, we and our allies are ready to take action to liberate Golan,” Hashem al-Moussawi, the spokesman of Harakat al-Nujaba said at a press conference in Tehran yesterday. 12 März 2017 – FAZ/FAS – Martin Schulz hat am Ende einer Rede in Würzburg Jusos dazu aufgefordert, in Sprechchören seinen Namen zu skandieren. Schulz richtete die ungewöhnliche Regieanweisung an eine Gruppe am Rand des Podiums: „Fangt doch mal an zu rufen!” Dazu bewegte er die Arme, um die jungen Leute in Schwung zu bringen, und wiederholte: „Ihr könnt mal rufen!” Als die Jusos immer noch zögerten, schob Schulz hinterher: „Martin rufen!” Das taten die Jusos dann auch. Zu Beginn der Veranstaltung vor einer Woche lief die Kampagne reibungslos, es gab Martin-Sprechchöre und Applaus im Stehen. Auch am Ende der knapp einstündigen Rede des Kandidaten standen die Zuhörer auf und spendeten minutenlang Beifall, allerdings ohne Martin-Rufe, bis Schulz selbst dafür sorgte. Aufgezeichnet hatte die Szene ein Autor des Bayerischen Rundfunks. Die SPD wollte sich dazu nicht äußern. Dass Kanzlerkandidaten selbst dazu auffordern, ihren Namen zu skandieren, war bisher nicht bekannt. Als Kanzler Willy Brandt 197o in Erfurt ,von DDR-Bürgern spontan mit Sprechchören gefeiert wurde, machte er sich sogar Sorgen: „Ich würde anderntags wieder in Bonn sein, sie nicht . . . So mahnte ich durch eine Bewegung meiner Hände zur Zurückhaltung. Man hat mich verstanden. Die Menge wurde stumm. Ich wandte mich schweren Herzens ab.” ant.
