ANKARA – 6 June 2017 – Hurriyet – Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on June 6 Ankara will retaliate immediately if the operation by U.S.-backed forces to capture Raqqa, Islamic State Iraq and the Levant’s (ISIL) de facto capital in Syria, presents a threat to Turkey.
Speaking to deputies from the ruling AKP after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said they had launched their battle for Raqqa, Yıldırım said Turkey was taking the necessary measures on the issue.Meanwhile, Germany should “have it your own way,” Yıldırım said regarding the recent rift over Berlin’s decision to withdraw troops from the İncirlik air base in southern Turkey. www.mesop.de
