Reports of PUK Forces Rushing to Encounter Protests in Iranian Kurdistan

1 Jan 2018 – BasNews – ERBIL — Specially-trained armed forces of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) have reportedly been invited by Tehran to help the Islamic Republic of Iran with defeating the angry protests across the Kurdish cities.

Locals who claim to have been witnessing the PUK forces crossing the border into neighbouring Kermanshah Province of Iranian Kurdistan, said that the forces are believed to replace the withdrawing Iranian forces in the province to encounter the growing protests.

For the fifth day in a row on Monday, demonstrations continued across Iran. In Kurdish cities of Kermanshah and Sanandaj people continue to remain on the streets and chant antigovernment slogans.

According to various sources, the PUK has sent its counter-terror forces which are specially trained for special tasks. This PUK armed group had previously taken control over some oil fields in Kirkuk before it handed them over to the Iraqi forces on 16th October last year. www.mesop.de
