U.S., allies seeking to divide regional states, official tells Kurdpress

14 June 2017 – MESOP  – The spokesman for Iran National Security Commission told Kurdpress that the planned referendum of the Iraqi northern region of Iraq is due to the pressure the U.S. and its allies put on the region.Naqavi Hossaini stated that the U.S. and its allies are seeing to divide the states in the region since the smaller the states of the region the more the interests of the U.S. and its allies and they can control them easier.

Commenting on Iran’s strategy in this regard, the official reiterated that Iran’s strategy is stable and unchangeable in this regard and we are against any division, adding that Tehran will do whatever it can against the attempt as we believe the move will harm regional states. If a region goes against the laws of the state and the international organizations and hold independence election, it has gone against the law, Naqavi Hossaini said about claims by Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials who claim their planned referendum is within a United Nations Rights Charter which allows regions to decide their fate.

He went on to add that the international organization to issue a license otherwise a region cannot hold referendum according to its own understanding.
