MESOP : GORRAN CONTRA PUK – Gorran calls on KRG to reintegrate disputed territories into Kurdistan

29.06.2014 – Mewan Dolamari – BasNews, Erbil – Gorran (Change Movement) has called on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to link the administration of Iraq’s disputed regions to the administration of the Kurdistan Region.The Gorran Movement has also called on the Kurdish authorities to close all the establishments and offices that were established for those specific areas.

The party asked the KRG to make economic, politics and administrational changes in the disputed territories. They stressed 10 points and asked the media not to use the term “disputed regions” for those territories. In terms of the oil found in the areas, Gorran suggested that the Industry and Energy Committee in Kurdistan Parliament find a mechanism to deal with the oil. They have also asked to encourage and facilitate oil companies in order to produce oil in the area. Following the attack and control of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) in Nineveh province, Iraqi Army failed to stand against them and the Kurdish Peshmerga forces were deployed to the disputed regions to protect the areas from extremist groups. Furthermore, last Friday the Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani stated that Article 140 is implemented as Kurds are concern and its finished and won’t talk about it anymore.
