PUK is Not a Threat to Turkey: PUK Officials – Officials of Turkey and PUK discussed issues pertaining to the Turkey-PUK relations

Basnews English – 22 June 2016 – ERBIL — Despite calling Turkey fascist, Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) official says his party poses no threat to Ankara. Dler Mawati, PUK member of the Kurdistan Region parliament, told BasNews that Turkey is one of the invaders of Kurdistan and despite the turmoil it has created in Turkish Kurdistan, it also demonstrates a fascist attitude towards the Syrian Kurdistan [Rojava].

The PUK official said “we have met with the Turkish officials and have reassured them that PUK is not a threat to Ankara,” and the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) will not constitute a threat to Turkey as well, he added.  The relations between PUK and Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has concerned Turkey and PUK officials previously confirmed to BasNews  that Turkey is concerned about PUK’s support for PKK; but yet the relations have not reached a deadlock as PUK’s representative office is still active in Ankara.
