MESOP : CONTRA THE MULLAH’S – Kurdish KDPI calls for public strike in Iranian Kurdistan

Aawsat – 11 July 2016 – Erbil, Kurdistan region ‘Iraq’,— The Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) is calling for a public strike in response to terrorist policies used by the Iranian regime against the Iranian and Kurdish population and to Tehran’s interference in the internal affairs of neighboring countries.Flyers were distributed on Sunday in several Kurdish cities calling for a general strike and the closure of shops and businesses for one day on Wednesday.

A prominent official at the KDPI, Kaveh Bahrami, told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper on Sunday the KDPI has urged the people of Kurdistan to go on strike by sending messages internally and through media. He added that the public strike would be held on Wednesday, which coincides with the commemoration of the assassination of KDPI Leader Abdulrahman Ghassemlou by Iranian intelligence in Vienna in 1989.

The KDPI official also said that the strike was part of a movement against the dominating Mullahs regime in Iran, adding: “We are engaging in all forms of struggle against the Iranian regime in order to regain our national and legitimate rights.” He also noted that the resistance was not only an armed one, but also a political struggle.

Bahrami said that Wednesday’s strike was a response to terrorist policies used by the Iranian regime against the Iranian and Kurdish populations, as well as the people in the whole region.

He added that the Iranian regime arrested many innocent citizens and deployed its forces across Kurdish cities, transforming them into military bases. Bahrami went on to say that heavily armed militants from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were spread across Kurdish areas to suppress any activities performed by the citizens and crush KDPI’s resistance movements. Bahrami stressed that the Kurdish people of Iran would not spare any effort to fight for its rights despite all forms of intimidation.

Meanwhile, well-informed sources said that the Iranian regime has taken strict security and military measures in Kurdish areas as precautionary actions against any popular movement. The sources added that flyers were distributed in several Kurdish cities, calling on citizens to hold a public strike on Wednesday. An Iranian Kurdish official said that the IRGC has arrested tens of Kurdish civilians over the past two days. KDPI official in eastern Kurdistan Khaled Wanousheh told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that the IRGC arrested around 30 civilians in several Kurdish cities.
