Kurdistan, Baghdad agree to jointly manage airports, border crossings: minister

15 Jan2018 – MESOP HEWLÊR-Erbil, Iraq’s Kurdistan region,— Delegations from the Kurdistan regional Government (KRG) and Iraqi government have agreed to manage the Kurdish airports and border crossings jointly, a Kurdish minister said.

KRG Minister of Transportation and Communication, Mawlud Bawa Murad told reporters on Monday that the points agreed upon during the meeting between the Kurdish and Iraqi officials would be given to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi.“There is a good understanding to resolve the issues on the basis of Iraqi constitution,” Murad added.A delegation from the Iraqi government arrived in Erbil on Monday to hold talks with the Kurdish officials to discuss the issues of the airports, border crossings and dams.The visit of the Iraqi government’s delegation came after a Kurdish delegation headed by the KRG minister of interior visited Baghdad on Saturday.
