Free Syria Army commander ousted

Kurdpress – 17.2.2014 – General Salim Edris, Free Syria Army (FSA), commander was ousted from his post based on a decision made by the army’s cooperation council, Anadolu news agency said in a report.

The council appointed Abdullah al-Bashir as the opposition army’s new commander. He joined the opposition body in 2012. The army has sated it elected al-Bashir for more unity inside the army and will continue its fight against the regime of Syria President Bashr al-Assad forcefully. The decision saw made days after a FSA commander Assaad al-Ryad, the army’s former general commander, stated the army will not be committed to Geneva II peace conference decisions.
