EAST KURDISTAN (IRAN) : Another Kurdish political activist sentenced to death

Mesop  – MERIWAN, 9.8.2012 – Another Kurdish political activist entered the list of those on death row. He was sentenced to death on the charge of working with one of the Kurdish political parties. According to International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, Bextiyar Me’emari 35 year old from the city of Meriwan who had been held incommunicado since August 2010, was tried by Revolution Court of Meriwan and sentenced to death for his alleged involvement in one of Kurdish political parties.

The similar source reports that Mr. Me’emari was arrested on 4 August 2010 by Meriwan Intelligence Units and transferred to Sine (Sanandaj) Intelligence Service where he was subjected to three months period of intensive interrogations sessions while family visits and phone conversation were denied to him. In the appeal Mr. Me’emari launched which its copy was published by the Campaign it is said that the Revolution Court has passed the verdict based on the client’s confession made during intensive interrogation and the client has later rejected all the accusations.
