Turkey’s Role in the Kidnapping of the Syrian Bishops
Assyrian International News Agency – By Dikran Ego – 2014-02-01 – On April 22, 2013 Bishops Yuhanna Ibrahim and Paul Yazici were kidnapped in Syria. During the kidnapping their driver was murdered. A fourth person in the car, Fuad Eliya, was released. Bishop Yuhanna Ibrahim is of the Syriac Orthodox Church and was considered the strongest candidate to succeed the current Patriarch. Bishop Paul Yazici is of the Greek Orthodox Church, he is the brother of the current patriarch.

Head of Democratic Left Party, Salih Gaddo, and head of foreign relations for the province of Hasakah denies he has withdrawn from the KNC reports Welati. His party supports self-management administration in the Kurdish areas of Syria. The KNC will hold a meeting soon to discuss the joining of the administration by the Left party and Akram Hissou (an independent KNC-member).
