I write to thank the Syrian Arab Army for its heroic rescue of Christians in the Qalamoun Mountain Range…. – You have followed the practice of your father by treating with respect all Christians and the small community of Jews in Damascus. You defended their churches and the Jewish synagogue and you have permitted them to worship freely according to their beliefs. I am grateful for that.

June 1, 2014 – ARA News – Amude, Syria – Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) launched last week a campaign of arrests against who it called “drug dealers and addicts” in the city of Amude, northeast of Syria. More than 30 persons were arrested after being accused of involvement in drug dealing, and the majority of them were later proven innocent are accordingly released. However, few of the arrested were found guilty and transferred to YPG-held prisons outside Amude.

ARA News- 1.6.2014 – Qamishli, Syria – Dozens of Kurdish activists and residents of Qamihsli city took to the street on Saturday in commemoration of the prominent Kurdish figure Sheikh Mashuq al-Khiznawi’s assassination, who was killed by the Syrian security in June of 2005 after a month of disappearance. Al-Khiznawi used to criticize the Syrian regime in his public speeches, especially after the anti-Assad Kurdish uprising of 2004.

ARA News – 31.5.2014 – Qamishli, Syria – The General Command of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) –Kurdish military forces linked to the Democratic Union Party (PYD)– issued a statement on Friday saying that 86 militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were killed during the past two days’ clashes between their forces (YPG) and ISIL group in the countryside Sere Kaniye city in Hasakah province, northeast of Syria, where both sides used tanks and heavy weapons.
