By RUDAW – 5-10-2014 – ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Islamic State (ISIS) fighters have advanced to within a kilometer of Kobane, the beleaguered Syrian border town whose Kurdish defenders face being outgunned.Anwar Salim, president of the self-declared Kurdish autonomous zone just across the Turkish border, said the attackers were closing in on the town and were only a kilometer to the east, two kilometers to the south and three from the west.

By Mutlu Çiviroğlu – 5-10-2014 – According to Anwar Moslem, Premier of Kobani Canton fierce battles continue around the city, especially near Mistanour Hill, but they are still in full control of Kobani city.”Fierce fights continue around the city, with clashes intensifying around Mistanour Hill. ISIS pushes hard to seize the hill, but YPG resists holding it.” Moslem adds that ISIS has 4 tanks near Mistanour which continuously shell the city. Some sources report ISIS now control of southern part if Mistanour Hill while some others did not verify this information.

YPG-linked sources told ARA News that IS extremists received reinforcements from IS-held Raqqa province and the Jarabus area on Friday, as dozens of armored vehicles were seen arriving in the countryside of Kobane.
