The United States has indefinitely suspended a longstanding military intelligence-sharing program with its North Atlantic Treaty Organization ally Turkey. The program, which targets a Kurdish separatist group, is believed to have been in place since 2007. According to the Reuters news agency, which published the story on Wednesday, it has never before been reported on by news media.

Russia and Turkey can’t afford a conflict in Syria so the current tensions are mostly just boasting and posture because the countries want trade to increase to $100 billion; whereas Turkey has just $5 billion in trade with Iran or Ukraine…so Russia-Turkey alliance to continue

2016 haben Ankara und Brüssel ein Abkommen getroffen, um die illegale Einwanderung über die Türkei in die EU einzudämmen. Beide Seiten sind mit der Umsetzung unzufrieden. Doch eine Neuauflage dürfte schwierig werden.
Eigentlich schien der sogenannte Flüchtlingsdeal mit der Türkei zunächst gut zu funktionieren. Die Zahl der Flüchtlinge, die aus der Türkei in die EU – vor allem nach Griechenland – kamen, ging stark zurück, weil die Türkei effektiv die Grenzen sicherte. Doch der Eifer Ankaras ließ zuletzt nach. Zur Begründung hieß es, die EU würde die vereinbarten finanziellen Hilfen nicht zahlen. Und auch die Drohung, den Deal platzen zu lassen, war zu hören.
Aber auch in Europa sind die Zweifel an dem Abkommen gewachsen, manche Länder sehen die EU dadurch als “erpressbar”.

Das Rathaus im Rücken: Cansu Özdemir (31) ist die Spitzenkandidatin der Hamburger LINKEN.Die jüngste Spitzenkandidatin aller Parteien, die um die Gunst der Hamburger Wahlberechtigten werben, heißt Cansu Özdemir. Die 31-Jährige geht bei der Bürgerschaftswahl für Die LINKE ins Rennen. Gewählt wird das Stadtparlament am 23. Februar.
. Ihr Engagement für Frieden und Freiheit der Kurden hat Cansu Özdemir vor ein paar Wochen eine Verwarnung und eine Geldbuße eingebracht. Auf einem Foto der dpa war sie mit der Fahne der verbotenen kurdischen Arbeiterpartei PKK zu sehen. Gegen die Entscheidung des Amtsgerichts hat sie Einspruch eingelegt.

Dieser Zahl stellte er die sechs Milliarden Euro gegenüber, die die Europäische Union der Türkei im Flüchtlingsabkommen vom März 2016 zugesagt hat. Immer wieder heißt es aus Ankara, dass sich die EU nicht an die finanziellen und sonstigen Zusagen der Vereinbarung gehalten habe.

Turkey Increases Aid to Idlib to Avoid New Refugee Wave

Three Turkish states have sent 45 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid to those in need in Syria’s northwestern Idlib province. The move comes amid escalation in regime attacks in the southern and eastern Idlib countryside.
The latest relief is part of a humanitarian campaign recently launched by Turkish organizations headed by the Humanitarian Relief Organization (İHH), the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and others.Kayseri state sent 23 aid trucks, Erzincan sent 20 and Karaman sent two, while a company in Trabzon province sent 4,320 shoes.Turkey’s Interior Ministry announced that the value of donations has amounted to more than $29 million.

Karwan Faidhi Dri RUDAW – ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) opened its consultative conference on Friday in Turkey’s capital Ankara in preparation for its upcoming February congress. Sezai Temelli, the party’s co-chair, said the aim of the congress is to strengthen the organization.
The party’s “grand conference” taking place on Friday and Saturday is being held to set the agenda for its fourth congress, scheduled for February 23, according to a party statement.
“We will carry the results of our grand conference to our 4th Grand Ordinary Congress on February 23,” the statement said. Some 600 delegates from all over Turkey are attending the conference under the slogan: “To win today and tomorrow, more organized and stronger HDP!”
