Brother visits jailed PKK leader

ISTANBUL – Doğan News Agency – 23.9.2013 – Mehmet Öcalan, the brother of the imprisoned leader of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan, is set to visit Imrali Island today.

Mehmet Öcalan, along with two other prisoners’ relatives, will depart from the Gemlik district on a ferry to the island where Abdullah Öcalan has been serving a lifetime sentence since 1999. The group was taken to Gemlik Provincial Gendarmerie Command after a 30-minute wait for an identity control. Mehmet Öcalan is expected to see his brother in the Imrali F-type high secured prison today in the coming hours.
