Bashar al- Assad supporters hold rally in Qamishlo

PYD & ASSAD REGIME IN QAMISHLO

It is worth mentioning that Syria defense minister paid an unannounced visit to Qamishlo. The visit sparked criticism against PYD and the party was accused of cooperation with Syria government.

21.2.2014 – BasNews – Hundreds of Syria President Bashar al- Assad fans held a supporting rally in Qamishlo, the center of Cezire canton in northern Kurdish regions of Syria.

The supporters held Assad’s portraits and big Syria flags and shouted slogans in favor of the embattled president, Syria Kurdish media activist Hoshin Omar told Kurdpress yesterday.  Omar further added the rally sparked criticisms from Kurdish Patriotic Council (affiliated with Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani) and wondered what the rally could mean if the Kurdish regions are under the control of Syria Kurdish autonomic regions. Qamishlo airport, the only airport in the Kurdish regions, is still controlled by Syria government security and military forces, Omar told about the situation of Syria Kurdish cantons, adding that there are also Pro- Assad forces in some of Qamishlo districts, but the rest of the city is controlled by Democratic Union Party (PYD) forces.
