Turkish Imam Fetullah Guelen : We will remove Barzani

13.02.2014 – Erdal Shimshk -BasNews, Ankara – Following the existing tensions between Turkish preacher, former imam, writer, and Islamic opinion leader, Fethullah Gülen and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a recently released clip from a voice recorder has shown that Gülen supporters have been working on a plan to weaken and remove Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Massoud Barzani.

The conflict between Gülen and Erdoğan has deepened as of late, with both sides carefully supervising each other’s contact with inside and outside allies, especially those made via phone communications. Sulaiman Hamid Muftigel, known as the Imam of Gülen in Canada, talked on the phone with a journalist about a plan against President Barzani and Prime Minister Erdoğan, of which the National Turkish Intelligence Agency (MIT) has a record, proving Gülen’s involvement in the plan. In the recording, Muftigel says, “We will hold a Kurdish Conference on October, 28, 2013, under the supervision of the U.S. in Washington. We will seize Ocelan [The jailed leader of the PKK] so that the militant conflict will start again.”

Muftigel continues, “We will also seize Barzani because he didn’t let PYD leader Saleh Muslim enter Northern Iraq, which caused many problems. Barzani has to be removed. At the conference, we will deprive Barzani from intervening in the Kurdish problem in Turkey.” Since tensions first flared between Gülen and Erdoğan, most Gülen affiliated media have maintained that the Kurdish problem in Turkey cannot be solved through the peace process and requires military and ethnic cleansing.

Turkish nationalists have also stood against Erdoğan’s peace process attempts with the Kurdish people and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Turkey.

Senior official from Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Prof. Mazhar Baghli talked to BasNews about Gülen’s plot against Barzani. “Turkish nationalists want to use military and force to cleanse the Kurdish people, but Gülen’s supporters utilize different soft power tactics through their media to increase the feelings of hatred towards Barzani,” Baghli explained.
